This Privacy Policy explains how Formula Automotive Museum ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the famuseum.org website, our reservation and booking services, or visit our museum at 4212 Center St, Houston, TX 77007. By using the site or our services, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Information We Collect
a. Information you provide.
We collect information you give us directly, including:
- Reservations: name, email, phone number, party size, event type, budget range, and any details you include with your booking.
- Account: name, email, profile photo, and authentication identifier when you sign in with Google.
- Contact and event inquiries: anything you submit through our contact or event-inquiry forms.
- Payments: billing details and payment records, processed through Stripe (we do not see or store full card numbers — Stripe handles the card data directly).
- Newsletter: email address if you sign up for updates.
b. Information collected automatically.
When you use the site, we and our analytics providers may collect:
- Device and browser information (browser type, operating system, device identifiers).
- IP address and approximate geographic location.
- Pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent.
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and confirm reservations, payments, refunds (where applicable), and rebookings.
- Communicate with you about your bookings, inquiries, account, and upcoming visits.
- Send newsletters and marketing emails to people who opt in.
- Operate, secure, and improve the website and our services.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the museum and the website:
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), Firebase / Google Cloud (database, storage, authentication), PostHog (product analytics), Resend (transactional email delivery), and Google (analytics and Tag Manager). Each operates under its own privacy terms.
- Museum staff: authorized staff and contractors who need access to fulfill bookings or respond to inquiries.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the museum, our guests, or others.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, preferences, and analytics. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to measure how the site is used, and PostHog to understand product performance. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; doing so may impact site functionality (for example, you may need to sign in again).
5. Email Communications
If you opt in to our newsletter, you may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. Transactional messages (booking confirmations, receipts, schedule changes, and similar) are sent for each reservation and are not promotional.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Reservation and payment records are retained for the longer of (a) seven years for tax and accounting purposes or (b) any longer period required by law. You may request deletion of information that is no longer needed for these purposes (see Section 8).
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to retention obligations described above.
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time.

9. Children's Privacy
Our website and reservation services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children are welcome at the museum when accompanied by a parent or guardian, but reservations are made by adults on behalf of their party. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Third-Party Links
The website may link to third-party sites we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those sites; we encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Updates take effect when posted on this page; the "Effective date" above will reflect the most recent revision.
